Sorry about that…I rarely go for more than a couple of days without posting something, but being knee-deep in the summer comes with plenty of distractions. This post is the equivalent of remembering that you left one of the kids in the carseat in the garage a few hours ago.
Here are a few tidbits…
• About the picture: I stumbled across it online, and I must say I was smitten. I found it amazing that a picture could be so effectively condescending, arrogant, proud, and awesome, all at the same time. I love it. But don’t worry, I mostly put it up because it was fun, and so you could mock me. I’m not adopting it as my new look – I’m sticking with the handcart dude. (I reserve the right to change my mind if “MMM” ever becomes a superhero, or an arch-nemesis.)
• My EC and I are celebrating our 27th anniversary this week. She is one lucky woman.
* Lots of hullabaloo about Twinkies coming back. I don’t care much – I’m saving my excitement for the dramatic return of yellow Zingers.
• Did I say my EC is a lucky woman? That was a typo. What it was supposed to say was that I am surprised she hasn’t slipped poison into my food and put me in a freezer by now.
• I am still irritated by The Lone Ranger. If you want to make a movie about racial genocide, and the slaughter of innocent people, do it. If you want to make an action-adventure-comedy with over the top stunts and slapstick characters, do it. But don’t mix the two. I thought the Lone Ranger was the most b-polar movie I have ever seen – and it sure isn’t a “family film.” (My EC is still ferociously angry at Disney about it.)
• I was just kidding about my wife poisoning me and putting me in the freezer – even though she would probably be justified at times. I am truly the lucky one – blessed, actually.
• The political climate has been crazy hot this past week because of the Martin/Zimmerman verdict. It has been interesting to watch the reactions on all sides. I decided to spend some time trying to see how the teachings of the prophets would apply to such a mass of passion and confusion. And I found my answer:
A few months before he passed away, Elder James E Faust gave an amazing talk in April Conference about “Forgiveness.” Yes, forgiveness. That is a word that I haven’t seen thrown around much by the religious leaders on TV this past week. I hear demands for “justice” and “vengeance” – but I fail to see people marching in the streets demanding “forgiveness.”
All of the politics, protests, or laws that man has, or will devise, will never be as effective at blessing society as the simple truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And you can quote me on that.
Here is the talk. It is bonafide. It will be the best 15 minutes you spend today, guaranteed.

Excellent point, nobody marching and demanding forgiveness. It is a sad commentary on the times we are living in. Not only that but Obama seems to be the one leading the charge to get Mr. Zimmerman on other charges. Frightening.
Twinkies are not on my radar but I can hardly wait to see Ding Dongs again. I miss my little chocolate buddies.

I doubt I will go out and get a Twinkie. I can’t remember the last time I had one, probably when I was a child.
I don’t plan on seeing the Lone Ranger, even though someone I know is a background towns-person in the movie.
Forgiveness is definitely the way to go. I’m glad you put that out there, too bad no one on TV mentions it.
First of all congratulations on celebrating 27 years of marriage this week.
Secondly, what an awesome talk by President Faust. I was reading it earlier this week and was thinking how much different society would be if we could just focus on this one principle.
