Mission Accomplished! A Stolen Christmas – Alex & Madi

Alex Madi

Thanks to all of you who were so generous with your thoughts and donations. THe goal was reached and I’m taking it down.

I half-stunned at the kindness and generosity, and half-not-surprised at all.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas!

Brad

My son Alex went home today to find that their rental had been broken into.

(You know Alex – he’s the newlywed who just had the surgery on his back.)

The thieves took of with all of their valuable stuff – Cellphone, PS-4, Alex’s laptop, Madi’s laptop (both which are used professionally.) etc. They are still in the process of discovering what is gone. Brutal.

— Two days before Christmas.  Nice.

So, even though I am loath to ask for stuff from my loyal and attractive readers, I am asking if you might find a few bucks to help my kids out. I know we aren’t dealing with cancer or funeral expenses, but this does matter.  We can’t do anything to absolve the feelings of violation that are experienced in such circumstances, but we can take a little bit of the sting away.

My thanks to you,

Brad

  1. This made my heart hurt when I first read it yesterday. Especially when you think about the fact that the two individuals who were on either side of Christ when he was crucified were both thieves. The irony was not lost, as horrific as this is it feels like there is a lesson underlying somehow, maybe I am just looking for a silver lining?
I hope that our donation was helpful to your children in their time of need. I also hope that our prayers are equally helpful, that as horrid as this is they can find forgiveness eventually and move forward, something tells me that they will…and I also hope they had renters insurance and if they didn’t that they consider getting it. Bless them and also I am SO happy that this didn’t turn out worse, items can be replaced, money can be raised but people can’t be, so glad to hear that no one was home and no one got hurt.

    Merry Christmas MMM and Family.

    1. Thank you, Missy for your sweetness. It has been a terrible, wonderful experience. The material things are so gently remedied through the kindness of others. The emotional aspects are a little tougher to work through. Lying there at night thinking people went through your stuff and stood on your bed… We are all aware that in the scale of bad things that can happen, this is barely a blip compared to the struggles others deal with. But it still sucks.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  2. So sorry. How fortunate they are to have such an awesome father/father in law to spread the word and get a little help. ☺

  3. Gave, not much but every little bit helps. Stuff can be replaced, feeling secure again is not as easy. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

  4. My heart hurts for you and your kids, what a shame. The feelings of being violated are most awful. With laptops being stolen, be sure they contact all banks, credit reporting companies, social security admin, anywhere or place where identity fraud issues stem. There’s lots of info on their pcs that can give away important info. Bless you all. Glad no one was hurt.

  5. ”Tis the season. I worked 68 hours of overtime in the last pay period (yes 68 + my regular 84) in anticipation of Christmas. Thursday morning I bought lunch at Walmart. Thursday afternoon we went shopping and my card was rejected. Upon further investigation we discovered that a bank near Miami FL had allowed many ATM withdrawals of $503 at a time until my account was empty.
My bank returned it all last night. I know the sick feeling.
My donation is on the way
