The Celebration is Upon Us

And so it begins… MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17th will mark the beginning of the 3rd annual celebration of

The celebration will consist of two weeks of non-stop danger and adventure. Well, maybe danger is a little bit of an exaggeration, unless you live in fear of an occasional dangling participle. But there will be some adventure.  In a “spiritually adventurous” sort of way.  Let me start over…

The celebration will consist of two-weeks of soul-filling posts that revolve around the teachings of the Proclamation. This is the third year for this blog event, and it gets better every year.

This year, the hosts are:
Montserrat of Chocolate on my Cranium
Jocelyn of We Talk of Christ
Stephanie of Diapers & Divinity
And ME. Yes, I am the first man to break the glass ceiling of Mormon Mommy Blogs and co-host this event. (Perhaps that is where the danger comes into play.)

Over the course of two weeks, September 17th -30th, there will be daily posts on each of these four host sites from all sorts of bloggers, artists, cartoonists, and us.  Some of them are really fancy bloggers, too. (And some will be men!) You will be glad you paid attention, and wil find yourselves super-prepared for General Conference one week later.

But… we want you to participate, too. There will be three “Blog Hops.” (I know, not a very masculine term) that you can participate in. Let me rephrase that: You should participate in, because you don’t want to be one of those people that take-take-take. You want to be a giver, too.  So, write your own posts on your blogs corresponding with these dates and topics:

  • Wed. September 19 – Share an FHE lesson or Craft about The Family Proclamation
  • Sun. September 23 – Share your personal thoughts or experiences with any aspect of the Proclamation
  • Wed. September 26 – Family Proclamation Photo Essay – pair photos of your family with different phrases from the Proclamation. Check out photo essays from past celebrationshere and here for ideas.

These are my posts from last year here and here. And probably one of the more important things I have written without help from my 5th grader, here

ALSO:  I have one or two spots still open. If you have written something that you feel might just be fabulous, then email me and we’ll see about including you as one of the guest posts!  No promises, but give it a shot.  (middleagedmormonman@gmail.com)

Please spread the word! The more people know about it the merrier the celebration.

• Share on twitter using the hashtags #CelebrateFamily and #FamilyProclamation.
• Share the posts on Fabebook.

This is the button that will eventually take you to the Celebration – Please take the code and paste it into your sidebar, and it will link back to the Celebration. Yeah, it is a little “frilly” for my tastes, but remember, I’m the lone man in this spiritual adventure – so I just do what I’m told. But I’ll try to “represent”.

For those of you who are more “visual,” I made a video announcing most of this.

For your viewing pleasure:

Have a good Sabbath!

  1. I’m glad to see your 4th grader managed to proceed up a grade since last time you wrote this post.

My dad loves that video so much.

I’m looking forward to this event.

  2. This is one of my favorite events! Super looking forward to it. I have had the blessing of participating as guest writer and host and I know you will love every second of it.

  3. Wow this blog has it all. I’m thinking that this compares to the old days when Education Week made the circuits in different states and was sooo looked forward to. Which reminds me….one of my favorite speakers at those events was Jeffrey Holland, and I know what happened to him but what became of Don Black who was a favorite of the teenagers. YUCK, YUCK, FARAH BUCK!
