Note: There is nothing inspirational about this post…
Explanation: I have a box and a drawer full of church-ish stuff that I have amassed over the years. I thought it might be a good thing to sort through it. It was really a wonderful experience. I found notes and cards from people; every talk I gave when I was bishop; lots of other talks and lessons; notebooks with notes I took from every general and stake conference for 30 years; and journals that I haven’t looked at for years.
When I opened one of those missionary journals, a bunch of old, yellowed papers fell out. To my surprise I found a trove of old comics I drew when I was a missionary – almost FORTY years ago. They have remained unseen since then.
I drew them when I was a 19 year-old missionary, killing some free time in Chile. They aren’t great by any stretch, but they made Chrissie laugh, so I figured I would share them.
Remember, these were made 40 years ago by a teenager, so you don’t need to “cancel” me or call me to repentance.
And yes, I was weird. My friends and I were (are) a big fans of The Far Side and B. Kliban.
Hopefully you will get a smile or two. I always feel good knowing I am causing my kids to roll their eyes.
*Bonus points for catching the Led Zeppelin and Holy Grail references.*
Have a wonderful Sabbath!

They made me laugh too!
