I’ve been having these “nudges” that it is time to bring back Sunday Night Check-in (SNCI). Until this week, I have done an effective job of ignoring them, but that has changed. I read that Taco Bell is bringing back the Caramel Apple Empanada. It was surely a sign.
For those who don’t know what I am talking about, I’ll catch you up: The caramel apple empanada was introduced in the early 2000’s, then discontinued about five years ago.
SNCI was introduced well over a decade ago, then discontinued in 2022.
In a nutshell, SNCI was an opportunity for everyone to take a moment on Sunday evening and share with the rest of us a single idea: “What was the best thing that happened to you today?”
It was fun, it was inspiring, and it brought goodness to the sometimes-bleak world of social media. It is time to bring it back and share some goodness. As Facebook continues to mess around with the way things show up on my feed, I find it harder to stay connected with friends. Hopefully, I can hear from each of you at least once a week during SNCI.
A couple of notes on sharing:
- Yes, there are rules. You only get to bring ONE item. This forces us to dig deep and contemplate our Sabbath to decide what the BEST thing is. (If you share multiple, I will delete.)
- Forbidden topics: Naps, sports, and food. We are trying to dig deeper. (I will delete.)
- NO POLITICS. (I definitely will delete.)
- Only kindness in the comments. I have an itchy delete finger.
- No whining about the rules.
As for logistics, I need to run it on my personal Facebook because my ThusWeSee page gets throttled so hard.
It will be at 8:00pm Utah time. (So, for just this week, it will be at 7:00 Arizona time.)
Facebook likes to promote things that start fast. For SNCI to be seen widely, I have a couple of requests: Add your comment quickly as soon SNCI begins. Share and comment. That will help push it up the nefarious algorithms so that more people will see it.
Here’s hoping for an inspirational return of an old friend. Please join me tonight, and spread the word.
Have a great Sabbath, and I look forward to hearing about your day!
