Merging the myth of Santa with the reality of Jesus has become more and more common. Every year I see more and more sculptures and paintings depicting the two icons together.
I’m not really a fan of this mash-up, and I’ve written about it before, masterfully. (link) Of course, others disagree and like the idea, and that is entirely up to them. I do get it – it is an attempt to reconcile the secular with the religious observations.
For the record, I love Jesus, and I love Santa – just not in the same space.
What I did do this year is look a little closer and see if there are any other events of religious significance that also include Santa. I was stunned to see that the manger is not the only place that he turns up. Here are a few. (I will resist making any commentary.)
Merry Christmas!

I don’t think I could comment nice-so I’ll just gag
These are some very creepy Santas!
This gave me an actual, audible, chuckle.
Oh dear, oh dear….Christmas needs to come soon. Thank goodness it’s on a Sunday, hopefully you’ll be able to get this out of your system and I’ll be able to get these out of my mind.
Then be glad I restrained myself!
I love me some good satire.
Glad to know some people still recognize it when they see it.
Snort.
