Thanks to those who have expressed concern over the state of my computer. Right now it is still an unresolved issue – my apologies. I have been asked some questions that I will try and answer:
1) I didn’t really “drop” it. I was playing laptop frisbee golf, and hit a pole. Not really. It fell out of an unzipped backpack that was perched on top of a car. (Don’t even start with me – I’m not in the mood.)
2) Yes, I am fully backed up.
3) I truly appreciate the offers, but I am not interested in a PC for two reasons: 1) They suck, and 2) My Mac software is worth much more than the Mac, so it would be foolish to change platforms. (And yes, I have used PCs enough to know.)
4) There are 500+ old posts that you can go back and read if you need a “fix”. I’m really flattered, but some of the old stuff holds up pretty well – when I go back and re-read it, half the time I don’t remember writing it in the first place, so it still seems new.
5) Maintaining a blog a smartphone is possible, but miserable. My posts are already riddled with typos – all I need is autocorrect trying to tell me that “Lemuel” is really a “Lemur.”
6) The laptop in the photo is NOT mine. It was just too great a picture to pass up.
So that is my update for you. I hope to be back soon, but have no timetable.
Thanks for checking in.
Behave!

We’re with you on #3! Hope you get a new Mac soon. We’ll miss you while your ‘gone’.
I am sad that you are indefinitely leaving! I joined this site a little over three months ago so I am EXCITED to go back and read 500 posts : ) but then I will get to the end f them and be like, wait, what? So, don’t stay away forever! Just long enough for me to get through the 500 posts! Also, after I’d been reading this for a while I heard a talk by Sher Dew suggesting we can all contribute by starting a blog about our lds beliefs, so between you and Sheri Dew, I felt inspired enough to do it.
This is it!

So please get a new computer!!! : )
(My husband loves mac so much he held on to every mac we ever owned up until a few months ago when after two of them had threated to become permanently ensconced in the closet (they didn’t work, but he insisted that macs never ever grow old) he finally reluctantly shipped them off to ‘a farm out in the country.’ He’s currently shopping for a new Mac, a die hard loyal Mac user like you : )
My husband use to put his phone in silly places too. In fact, he had a habit of placing his wallet and phone on the dash of his truck when he drove, right above the steering wheel. I ‘suggested’ to him on several occasions that perhaps it isn’t the wisest place to put such valuable items, but he ignored me. One day in the spring he was driving my van and placed his phone in it’s usual precarious place. I ‘suggested’ once again that it wasn’t the wisest place to put his phone, especially since the window was open. As usual, he brushed me off. Then we went around a corner… The kids and I continue to get a good laugh out of that.
Maybe there is a reason your laptop bit the dust….maybe you need to spend your time doing something else over the next however long it takes 🙂 Glad you’re not dead and we will keep checking in 🙂
If the reason is driving me into poverty because it is damaging my livelihood, then you might be right!
Your new cover photo immediately reminded me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I’m not dead! I’m feeling better!
I like the new cover photo. Made me laugh.
So what’s your excuse about the typos when your not on your phone?
I type most of my posts between 5:30 and 6:30am. And I never have time to go back and proofread. And the secondary benefit of the typos is that it gives the spelling and grammar police something to help them feel fulfilled.
Agreeing with point 5. Wrangling autocorrect slows me down. But some of its guesses are hilarious. And laughing is good for my immune system.
er, I mean point 3*
You are still young. I trust you to figure it out.
Disagree with subpoint 1 on point 2, but subpoint 2 I can sympathize with.
