Fixing Mr. Fix-it – Courtesy of Elder Bednar

Sunday at Noon I posted a piece about struggling, and hopefully learning, through adversity.  Here’s the link to the post. A mere six hours later, the Lord blessed me with some Apostolic insight, and some answers to many of my own questions on the very same topic. (A little freaky, I know!)

Elder David A. Bednar, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke at a CES Devotional that was broadcast on BYU-TV, and now is online.  His talk was a Godsend to me, and my family.

For FHE tonight, my EC, and the FOMLs gathered around the TV and watched, and listened. Pause button at the ready to explain words and talk about ideas. It was wonderful.

I was enlightened.
I was chastened.
I was reenforced.
I was taught.
I was strengthened.
I felt loved.

Please watch this. Especially if you are one of the souls who reached out after my post yesterday. I did my best to explain hard things, but this is how it is done.

*While the whole thing is great, if you are short of time, skip to 18:45. (And the Susan Bednar fans can send me hate mail.)
And to not detract, I will save my post about tortillas that look like Jesus until later in the week. Thanks for understanding.

  1. Elder Bednar’s talk is profound. I cried while listening to it as I feel it is exactly what my family needs right now as we, too, are going through a crisis, although of different sorts. I will be sharing this with my husband as soon as he can slow down long enough to sit and enjoy it with me. Thank you so much for pointing us towards this message from an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  2. Loved the talk by Bro Bednar. It seems he is talking to me! the story of John and Heather touched me as my sister is going through the same thing(cancer). I only hope that I can be as faithful as they are in facing the trials that come to me.

  3. excellent. i will be sharing this with my family. thanks so much for posting this talk by elder bednar. i was short on time but i did also listen to his wife’s brief talk. her words were good for me to hear as well, especially since i spend a 40 hour work week among worldly others. not always fun, often trying. i hope i can remember my desire to keep from shrinking in the face of my own adversities. i’ll have to add this to my list of favorite posts of yours 😉

  4. Still pondering and mulling over this talk. So timely for me and my family and another reminder that Heavenly Father does indeed KNOW us, and sends tender mercies when we need them, as well as pure knowledge if we’ll be open for it.
