Sorry I am slow to post these comments from the final session of Conference today.
I was unable to type because the magenta dresses that the MoTab sisters wore burned my retinas.
Not really. EC and I went to visit the sick and afflicted, and returned home with even more gratitude in our hearts.
• Peter is definitely the Man of the Hour. Three Apostles talked about his interactions with the Savior. All fabulous talks. I went in search of a painting of the story that Elders Holland and Hales talked about and found this:
I have no idea who painted it, but I’m glad someone did. Do any of you know of a painting that represents this second occasion where Christ summoned His Apostles? There are several of the first occurrence.
• In order to become more like Jesus, I am grilling fish for dinner tonight. Salmon to be precise.
• Elder Clarke gave one of the best, most understandably concise explanations of the sacrament that I have ever heard. He totally nailed it. But… I’ll bet hardly anybody noticed that it can be a life-changer, if we let it.
• Did I mention the magenta dresses? There were much better than the Pepto-Bismol dresses from before.
• As Elder Bednar talked about the necessity of conversion beyond testimony, I kept thinking of the scripture in James 2:19. Testimony isn’t enough.
“Thou believest there is one God; Thou doest well: The devils also believe, and tremble.”
• FamilySearch should figure out a way to add a social media element to indexing, so teenagers would be more likely to do it. They could race each other, compare notes, meet other LDS kids from around the world, etc.
• True Story: Richard G. Scott was my dad’s mission companion. I have a story that goes along with that – maybe one day I’ll share it.
• Our broadcast went out right as President Monson was wrapping up. Please let me know if he quoted me during that time. Other than that, it looks like I went 0 for 5 again this year.
• As I get older, the two-hour session seems shorter than it used to.
• Speaking of getting older…it seems that a lot of these newer Seventies are awfully young.
Enjoy the rest of your Sabbath. I look forward to digging in and learning more from these talks in the near future.

Someone asked Bronco Mendenhall (Head coach for BYU football) how he felt about the announcement. To which he replied,”well, it made tough to listen tho the rest of the session. My son had similar reactions to those listed. He took notes, and pondered if this would be a good option for him. He’s 18 now and will be throughout his Senior year.
Hmmm…Richard G. Scott was your dad’s missionary companion and my grandfather was their mission president:)
Do tell the story of Richard G. Scott, someday;)
BTW, speaking of subliminal messages, maybe there was one in the quote from The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint Exupery. It was quoted twice. Once by Pres. Uchtdorf and then again by Elder Gonzalez.
Our broadcast also went out at the end of Pres. Monson’s talk. We were thinking it was the liberals up here in Seattle messin’ with us!
Family Search does have an application for ipod/ipad.
I love how the church has all the talks already loaded on their website! They are already on my iPod ready for me to listen to while I milk the goats tomorrow morning. Some conferences are spectacular and can easily be listened to everyday for the next 6 months, this is one of them. (The others are good, too…. but there are some that draw me in stronger than others.)
I have an artist friend who painted the story of Peter jumping from the boat. You should be able to see the painting through Facebook.

I loved conference… loved it. Oh, and I have to tell you… 2 people quoted the part of the proclamation that I used in my blog post on here, and my husband turned to me and said, “Look at that! They’re quoting you! You’re awesome!!” I love that man… who could ask for a better companion?
I think we were all surprised that they didn’t mention your name, or at least show your picture.
My dad served in the same mission as Elder Scott, but I think he was a year or two ahead or behind him. However, our son served in the same mission. One of the highlights for him was meeting with an old gentleman who remembered both Elder Scott and his grandfather, and even had their “calling” cards which he gave to our son. My dad’s a family history missionary and warned us to pay attention to Elder Scott’s talk; because of that I was able to stay awake in spite of his soothing voice.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Lack of sleep and a post marathon body caught up to me, and I have to confess to sleeping the whole thing. I am grateful for the webz knowing I can watch all the talks tomorrow when I am refreshed and ready to listen.
And my diet coke stash is replenished
Elder Holland did it again! Blew us away with another amazing talk with a great delivery! Loved it! Nice list and fun way to re-cap conference. I agree with you, I loved Elder Clarke’s talk about the sacrament. Very well done. I also liked his random quip about people falling asleep in the conference center during his talk.
Ohhh the dresses. Yiye.
I feel sorry for the poor person who has to decide though.
The magenta choir dresses did not bother me nearly as much as the shocking blue ones from Saturday AM session. Good thing they are fabulous at singing!
re:choir…yesterday’s afternoon session had ym/yw from utar singing…the yw had varicolored blouses on & looked very nice…they all sounded great, but btw, one was my granddaughter, so i could possibly be biased, but i’ll say i’m not…they were really good…oh, & other than that, the talks were good too…esp elder jeff’s animated liveliness in his talk…
What is this “thee talks” of which you speak? Is it something into which I should also be looking? Curiouser and curiouser.
I don’t know what you are talking about…
Not to belabour the point, but you could hire a proof-reader. One who spells the Queen’s English, perhaps?
You swine, you repaired it! And you didn’t even thank me.
Still don’t know what you are on about.
I don’t need a proofreader. I feel that my consistent errors lend a certain “charm” to my blog.
So you said. I shall be quiet now and leave you to your consistency and charm.
Your record remains untarnished, 0 for 5 in being quoted. President Monson told us the Lord is always on our side as we do what it right.
Enjoyed your comments, though you need to lighten up on the poor choir dresses.
Awesome conference all around (as usual). Counting my blessings that we can see them all from the comfort of the family room (thanks Roku!). We did not lose signal (though I did drift off a bit during Elder Scott’s talk — but I did not miss all of it or any others).
Yes, some of the Seventy look relatively young, especially compared with the aging apostles. Bless them all.
Sorry, I again succumbed to the call of the Sunday afternoon session nap. I think it was during Scott’s talk. I’ll repent and read them later.
I have that problem with Elder Scott, too. BTW, is it you, Vatermann, who would take away MMM’s man-card for knowing the color “magenta”?
I haven’t been diligent about policing MMM’s man card lately since I was out of the country on business. Thanks for reminding me: 10 points off for using a girl color and 50 points off retroactively for allowing a guest post about bras.
(As if Vatermann should be policing man cards. That’s like Obama policing government waste.)
I contend that I retain the 50 points because I actually showed a picture of a bra on that blog post.
I also contend that I should not only retain the 10 points for correctly identifying magenta, but be awarded 10 additional points for knowing that Magenta is a DC Comics villain.
Welcome back. Hope you enjoyed the schnitzel.
If a dyed in the wool, pioneer stock, Mormon father of 7 with a beard can’t police man cards, who can? I’ve decided to allow you to keep your man points based mainly upon the DC reference. PS Marvel has a villain named Purple Man too.
I also lost signal at the end of President Monson’s talk. Sadly, I got better results from the LDS website than I did from either BYU-TV or Mormon Channel on my Roku box.
I thought the dresses were subliminal pro-Utah messages…No? hmmm. (Maybe they were anti-BYU???) C’mon!! I couldn’t resist.
I’ve loved all of your conference recaps. 🙂
James Tissot was a French painter who captured this second story in his painting called: The Second Miraculous Draught of Fishes
You can see it at the Brooklyn Museum’s website right here: http://www.brooklynmuseum.org/opencollection/objects/4616/The_Second_Miraculous_Draught_of_Fishes_La_seconde_p%C3%AAche_miraculeuse
Thanks Tristan! Very cool. Now to find one where Peter is diving out of the boat.
Tristan- thanks for that link. I looked through his other paintings (which are pretty cool) and he does have one of Peter jumping out of the boat:

I’m just glad he spared us the whole fishing in the buff thing.
That was the second or third time I have heard that theme from Elder Bednar. That makes me think that it is important.
I’m on a spiritual overload. Deffinitely going back to watch again ASAP!
Loved it all, and will miss it all. Can’t wait to study and rethink and apply all that was said. I posted a bunch of quotes/images from conference over at my blog. If you’d like to steal any, you know where to find me.
