General Conference: An Observation

It has been a great weekend. There is so much to process and internalize that I don’t have anything concrete to share with you yet.
However, some of you have expressed a desire to hear my thoughts, and I will post them proudly, and with all humility, as soon as I feel they are worthy of your consideration.
In the meantime, Kristan Ellsworth has been hounding me mercilessly on Facebook to post something. So I will post a couple of pictures from the Conference Center.
You may draw your own conclusions.

  1. Sandy: Similar experience: Once we were on vacation and FOML2 didn’t bring a tie – the Bishop in the ward tracked him down and asked him to bless the sacrament. He quickly borrowed a tie and performed the ordinance. He now uses that experience as a reminder to always be prepared to magnify his priesthood, wherever, whenever needed.

  2. The one time my son wears a colored shirt and no tie to sacrament meeting, he is called on to bless the sacrament. My sweetie quickly pulls off his own tie and passes it down the row. But you know, he said the prayer just fine in his purple shirt and mismatched tie and no one said a thing.

  3. My Heart Squared-That is great! I will definitely remember those when or boys are teenagers and the”self-expression” arguments begin

  4. So, one time, I sang in a single adult choir at the 2nd Saturday session. As we lined up to go in through security there was a “street creature” doing his thing next to us. Usually I ignore, but I couldn’t resist. I says, “Hey, you’re preaching to the choir!” Funny? I was pretty proud of that one.

  5. Love it! That is one thing I tell my boys: “When you see President/Elder (fill in the blank)wear a colored shirt to Conference, you can wear one to Church!” and then there’s this one “Son, you can have you hair cut as long as any member of the Quorum of the 12. Elder Oaks included.”

  6. Hopefully those are just the protesters and not faithful blog readers! Have you addressed the “white shirt not optional” clause?

Add your 2¢. (Be nice.)
